Our History


The Holy Band Ministry was envisioned and built by Bishop Harry and Lottie Mae Brown. This Spirit led ministry had its origin at a tent revival conducted by Evangelist Harry Brown in Brunswick, Georgia.

On January 1, 1965 at the direction of the Holy Spirit a prayer band was started and Bishop Charlie Charles, Overseer of the Church of Christ God Established opened its the doors to the prayer band leaders Evangelist Harry Brown and Evangelist Rose Cohen. As the prayer meeting progressed Prayer boosters and officers were added. President Elder Rebecca R. Jackson; vice president, Mother Mary Charles, secretary Evangelist Willie Mae Ramsey, treasurer; Evangelist Mary Calhoun, after the tenure of the above named officers Mother Mamie Lou Culbreath was named as president of the Prayer band. Under the leadership of Mother Mamie Lou Culbreath, a continual prayer watch was held daily at noon at the church with prayer leaders and boosters.

Boosters: Rose Brown, Madean Brooks-Brown, Gloria Brown, Carolyn Allen, Vergie Collins, Olla Mae Culbreath, Janice Early, Joyce Goodwill, Alice Hightower, Laura Lattany, Willie Hicks, Henrietta Bizzle, Patricia Moses, Rose Moses, Renee` Parham, Christine Ramsey, Raymond Ramsey, Harold Gamble, Ethel Stevens.

First Finance Committee: Minister Robert Atkinson, Missionary Florence Pinkney, Elder Annie Ruth Stevens, and Mother Mamie Lou Culbreath.

During the tent revival in Brunswick, Georgia the thought of worshiping indoors was born. After many surviving trials and moving from building to building the birth and growth of the name and meaning of Holy Band of Inspiration Deliverance Temple was given by Mother Rebecca R. Jackson through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit on February 5, 1965.
